Live From UI: The Little Venue That Could

UI Sound, in addition to being a renowned project studio, is the best little music venue in Colorado. Our monthly series of live-recorded, studio concerts feature the best musicians and bands the Front Range (and abroad) has to offer! In this boutique performance artists present music that is stripped-down, giving fans an intimate listening experience.

Our first show with Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps packed the house! With more great shows coming like Someone’s in for an Explosion, West Water Outlaws, Faceman, and Kyle James Hauser, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Sauna is Steaming!

NoCoast-Surf-Punk act, Sauna, blazed through a new single at the studio in February. All the players, still in High School, showed a command of songwriting and performing that belied their years. Keep an eye out and an ear open for Sauna!

FaceMan Returns

Returning to the studio to track songs for their new album, FeedingTime, was renowned Denver Pop/Rock trio, FaceMan. The first two tracks on the record, FullMetalJacket and High Gear, were cut at UI Sound! Since we last saw Faceman (after recording the single, StanDeasy), FaceMan has given countless high-profile performances including the epic, First Waltz at the Bluebird Theater, and worked with legendary horn sections the Dirty Dozen and Rebirth Brass Bands. Wow. What’s next?

West Water Outlaws

Self-Described as High Energy Rock & Roll from Boulder, CO, West Water Outlaws can tear it up. The studio became aware of  the Outlaws after they won Colorado University’s Battle of the Bands. It took a while, but we convinced these fellas to come into UI Sound and record their new single, C’Mon. I’ll let the band tell the rest of their story:

“The Outlaws were formed in early 2010 when singer Blake Rooker accidentally walked into the wrong statistics class, hazily. He ran into a friend from freshman year at CU, Will S. Buck Esq. who had interest in forming a band. After fifteen minutes of what felt like brothers meeting for the first time, Rooker and Buck discovered each others love for down home blues and dirty rock and roll, and a band practice was scheduled for later that evening. After a few practices and some spirited writing sessions the band started playing parties in the basement of Rooker’s house. Interestingly enough during the mass explosion of dj software and macbook pros, not many parties in Boulder featured live Rock & Roll bands at this point in time. The Rock parties were a hit.”
